Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2, 2026

1. Introduction

Wyldfyre ("Wyldfyre," "we," "us," or "our") operates a free, play-money prediction game about California wildfire activity. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. By using the Wyldfyre website and services (the "Service"), you agree to this Policy.

2. Scope

This Policy applies to personal information we process through the Service. It does not cover third-party websites or services that we do not control, even if the Service links to them.

3. Information we collect

Information you provide. When you create an account or use the Service, we collect the email address, display name, and password you provide (handled through our authentication provider, Neon Auth), any content you submit such as comments, and your support requests, feedback, or other correspondence.

Gameplay information. We collect your play-money balance, market positions, trades, and settlement history.

Information collected automatically. When you use the Service, we automatically collect usage and log data (such as pages and markets viewed and interactions), device and connection data (such as IP address, browser type, and operating system), and data from cookies and similar technologies.

Information from third parties. If you sign in through a third-party provider, we receive basic account information from that provider, and we receive aggregate usage measurements from our analytics provider.

We do not collect payment information, because the Service is free and uses play money only.

4. How we use information

  • Provide, maintain, and secure the Service, your account, and the play-money markets;
  • Personalize your experience and display your activity where appropriate;
  • Understand usage, research, and improve the Service;
  • Communicate with you, including service and security notices and, where you have not opted out, product updates;
  • Detect and prevent fraud, spam, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service;
  • Comply with law and enforce our agreements.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to train general-purpose AI models for external licensing or sale.

5. Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal information under one or more of the following legal bases: performance of our contract with you (to provide the Service); our legitimate interests (such as securing and improving the Service), which you may object to; your consent (for optional uses such as certain cookies), which you may withdraw at any time; and compliance with a legal obligation.

6. How we share information

  • Publicly — your display name and public activity (such as comments or market participation, where shown) may be visible to others. Do not include information you want kept private.
  • Service providers — we share information with vendors that help us run the Service, including Neon (database and authentication), Vercel (hosting and analytics), and Mapbox (maps). They process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
  • Compliance and safety — we may disclose information to comply with law or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Wyldfyre, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers — if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction; we will notify you as required.

We do not sell your personal information for money.

7. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to limit or object to certain processing. You can opt out of non-essential emails using the unsubscribe link or your account settings. To exercise any right, email us at privacy@wyldfyre.io.

Do Not Track.We do not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals.

8. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, measure performance, and help detect fraud and abuse. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work without them.

9. Data retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal, security, or dispute-resolution purposes. Aggregated or anonymized data that can no longer reasonably identify you may be retained and used indefinitely.

10. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password.

11. International data transfers

We operate the Service from the United States. If you access it from outside the United States, your information will be processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for international transfers.

12. Children's privacy

The Service is intended for users 18 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and never from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at privacy@wyldfyre.io and we will delete it.

13. California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it; to request deletion or correction of their personal information (subject to legal exceptions); to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information; and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

In the past 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers (such as name, email, and IP address), internet or network activity (usage and log data), and commercial or gameplay information (your play-money activity). To exercise your rights, email privacy@wyldfyre.io; we may need to verify your identity, and we will respond within the time required by law.

14. Other U.S. state privacy rights

Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws may have similar rights to access, delete, correct, and opt out of certain processing. Contact us at privacy@wyldfyre.io to exercise them.

15. Data breach notification

If a breach compromises your personal information, we will notify you and any relevant authorities as required by applicable law.

16. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will refresh the "last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
